A robot vacuum is the best tool to maintain an orderly home. It can pick up pet hair, dust, and other debris on surfaces.

Some robots sync with smart assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant for a hands-free experience. Find models that recharge and pick up where they left off.

1. iRobot s8

This smart robot mop and vacuum combo is a great choice for many households. It features a superb navigation system with GPS and laser sensors. It also comes with a lot of features and control options that can be accessed through the app. It also comes with a useful feature that lets you add cleaning zones to certain areas that require more attention, as well as Keep Out zones that you don't want it to be. Like all Roomba devices, it is updated with new software updates that make it better over time.

It's costly however, it's also among the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has tested. It's equipped with a powerful battery that can vacuum a large home in under two hours. It can switch between vacuuming and mopping by pressing a button. And unlike other self-emptying robotics that require you to empty the bin after each run, it automatically emptys itself into the larger waste container that is above its charging dock.

It has a wide range of other features that make it a great option for most homes that include intelligent obstacle avoidance that utilizes both a camera and processor-powered smarts to see obstacles. It is rarely derailed or stuck during a cleaning cycle. In my tests it was the most effective at avoiding objects such as power cables. However, it isn't as reliable at detecting pet waste or other hazards.

2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

While Anker-owned Eufy has earned its name in low-cost robot vacuums it hasn't previously offered an all-in-one model which can also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that comes with a variety of features that are advanced and can compete with more expensive models.

Laser navigation is the primary selling point of this machine. The previous Eufy devices have constructed a rough map of your home using infrared sensors and bumping into things however the X8's laser mapping technology is more precise. It also takes a lot less time to build up a comprehensive picture of your home and can store multiple maps, which is ideal for multi-floor homes.

The X8 is still a good vacuum for floors that are not clean that can carry debris under its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with ease. The X8's tyres, shark 2 in 1 Robot vacuum despite having a circular shape, are efficient at grabbing edges and corners. It's not the best cat litter picker, though our tests have shown it only removes about 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.

There's a basic mopping option which uses the same water tank as the vacuuming one. This is ideal for spills that aren't too dangerous, but you are unable to regulate the amount of water it consumes. It does, however, do an admirable job of picking up pet hair, with a better speed of pickup than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is known for its quiet, efficient appliances. It features a stunning design, excellent navigation and a powerful cleaning power. It has a few oddities in its operation that prevent it from being considered the best smart robot vacuum.

Similar to the latest models of irobot mopping and vacuum and models, the RX2 features dual-sensor mapping technology that utilizes the LIDAR sensor to map out an area and three 3D scanning cameras to identify and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. After the room has been defined and assigned, you can designate virtual no-go areas and sections that you would like to be the robot. You can also change the cleaning options, begin a manual clean, or view live feeds of the onboard cameras from the main screen.

The RX2 has superior sensors that detect furniture and other obstructions instantly. And its sweeping and suction power are top-notch cleaning up surface debris from carpets with medium piles and dust on floors with no floor. It's not the fastest robotics on the market. It's not the most efficient climber and has issues with metal threshold transition strips.

A lot of people purchase a robotic vacuum for the ease of setting up a schedule using an app and then forgetting about it for weeks at a time. It is essential for a robot to be able to do the job so our ZDNet staff has compared and looked over some of the most popular models in order to help you choose the best one for your house.

4. shark 2 in 1 Robot Vacuum ION

This budget-friendly robovac looks just like a typical robot, but it's upgraded in performance and features. Its smart mapping system generates 3D and 2-D maps of your house and uses to navigate and avoid obstructions. It can even detect common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors, together with a bump sensor and an infrared drop sensor which keeps it away from stairs is what makes it one of the most flexible vacuums we've tested.

In our tests, it was able to moved over large shag rug and didn't get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation capabilities were impressive. Its composite score for carpet and bare flooring was higher than the competition, and it picked up 98.5% of dirt and embedded dog hair from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are more basic than the competitors. There is a cleaning button at the top, and you can either start it by using the app or via voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, designate no-go zones, and look up its cleaning history. Clad in smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and is attractive in your home. Its rear dustbin is easily accessible to empty, and the removal of the filters is also easy.

5. Eufy 11S

Eufy 11S is a great option for shark 2 In 1 robot Vacuum those looking for an automated vacuum cleaner that is simple and has no frills at a low cost. It's not equipped with some advanced features such as Alexa integration and digital mapping found in more expensive models. However, if you don't need these features, you could save money.

This robot is very easy to setup and use. It doesn't require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does come with an remote control that lets you choose between various modes and adjust the suction levels. It also lets you manually turn off the robovac during scheduled cleaning.

In our tests, we discovered that the 11S was extremely efficient at getting dirt and pet fur from hard floors and low-pile carpets. Its slim profile allowed it to pass under furniture that is low-hanging and other items that bulkier robots could not reach. It could also easily get over thresholds for doors and move from one type of floor to another.

Like other robots, the 11S will take in some objects like cords, hoodie drawstrings and cat toys. The manufacturer says that you can avoid this by keeping these items off the floor and using the possibility of a cord organizer. It also suggests that you clean the dustbin, replace the filters, and wash or change the brushes when needed.

iRobot Roomba 990

The Roomba is iRobot's flagship robot vacuum. It's pricey, but it's a top performer and arguably the most advanced robot vacuum you can buy. Its self-navigation and environmental mapping are a joy to behold. It has more advanced automation than the majority of its competitors, such as the capability to set up virtual boundary markers with its mobile application. Although the app isn't the most responsive and the 980 may spin out a bit while rolling over cables, it's a very capable robot vacuum.

One thing we love about the 980 is that it makes use of its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneous localisation and mapping technology (or vSLAM) to memorise the floor plan of your home. It will use this information to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path through each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient vacuum than many high-end robotics.

shark-ai-ultra-2-in-1-robot-vacuum-mop-wOther features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes which grab dirt on hard floors and carpets, as well as a spinning brush to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. Its floor tracking sensors aid it navigate around furniture and along edges, while Cliff Detect keeps the Roomba from falling down stairs. It will also return to the base station to allow for charging between sessions. While the 980's battery life and bin size isn't as good as those of some other robot vacuums, it's a sturdy and reliable machine that will keep your floors spotless for hours at a time.
